When Trade Wind’s very own Jennifer Wigglesworth took the certified contractor’s licensing exam, she sat in a room comprised of hundreds of men and less than five women. Obviously, she was in the minority, but nothing could stop her from pursuing this male dominated field. She thoroughly enjoys the diversity and challenges of the construction industry. As Vice President of Trade Wind Builders in Merritt Island, Jennifer is among the 10 percent of women that make up the construction industry, according to the National Association of Women in Construction. She has been in construction since high school, initially working for a national home builder as an office assistant and advanced to staff accountant/office manager. Her sense for contracting led her to another national builder before helping to establish Trade WindBuilders nearly 15 years ago. Jennifer is one of eight full-time employees at Trade Wind Builders,Inc., however the company utilizes a core group of subcontractors that assist in completing each building project.

Trade Wind Builders designs, builds,constructs and remodels residential and commercial properties through out Brevard County. The design process sets Trade Wind apart from their competitors, as they’re one of a few contractors that has an in house designer. From concept to completion, Jennifer has her hands in all aspects of the project. She meets with clients to determine the goals and objectives for their project and then sees them through the entire process from design to closing. A graduate of the University of CentralFlorida in Orlando, Jennifer holds a B.S. in Accounting. She is also licensed as a Florida Realtor and is a Certified Florida Building Contractor. Merritt Island, FL – The Cocoa Beach Area Chamber of Commerce’s Better Business Development Council (BBDC) will host a business networking event to reveal the Business Champion of the Quarter. The event will be held on Thursday, May 19 at the International Palms Resort, 1300 N. Atlantic Avenue, Cocoa Beach.  This is the second in a series of Quarterly meetings to be held throughout 2011.  Entitled, “BBDC’s Quarterly Update and Business Networking”, the event will begin at 5:30 PM with networking and cocktails.  We will also be announcing our Business Champion of the Quarter and we will feature John & Vern Harper of WMEL Talk Radio who will be speaking on the business & promotional aspects of winning Business of the Month in September 2010.

According to Tami Tomlinson, BBDC’s Chair for 2011, all area businesses are welcome to attend.  “It will be a great opportunity to meet other business owners as well as the Business Champion of the Quarter”.  There will be sufficient time allotted for networking and to interface with the BBDC Board Members.
