This project presented the unique challenge of replicating a 1913 Old Florida home that had suffered extensive termite and bee damage. The two-story design includes balconies on both levels and, to comply with current building codes, was elevated above street level to prevent the moisture intrusion that had compromised the original structure. We maintained the exact footprint of the historic predecessor.
The home showcases meticulous attention to period-appropriate details, including antique brick and gas light fixtures and appliances. Modern conveniences—such as the built-in coffee center and entertainment unit in the family room—blend seamlessly with the historic character.
Our carpenters crafted decorative trim work to match the intricate patterns of the original home in authentic craftsman style. The balconies feature traditional tongue-and-groove ceilings painted "haint blue," a historic choice said to ward off insects and, according to some traditions, unwelcome spirits.
